Queensland is an ideal location to experience some of Australia’s best surf beaches, tropical rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. With a warm and sunny climate year-round, it is one of Australia’s best tourism destinations.
There are 11 orienteering clubs across the state, predominantly centred in the capital city, Brisbane, and surrounding regions of Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Granite Belt. Orienteering terrain in Queensland is varied and interesting, including some of Australia’s most complex campus sprint maps, world-class granite and fast spur-gully terrain. The Cascades, located in the beautiful Granite Belt region, is some of the world’s best granite orienteering terrain.
We have a competitive team in the National Orienteering League – the Queensland Cyclones – and a strong junior development program (including annual junior training camps) and Schools coaching program.
Queensland has a current 6 month opportunity for a coach (or coaches) in residence and currently welcomes applications from interstate and international elite/experienced orienteers.
The opportunity:
